In winter of 2007, Jennifer Mountford, a teacher at Pacific Cascade Freshman Campus, was at a point in her eight-year career when she was ready for a unique professional development opportunity.
According to Mountford, she was looking for an opportunity to “challenge me to look at my teaching in new ways, not just provide me with new tools for my tool box,” as had other professional development opportunities. With support from colleagues, she decided to undergo the rigorous process of National Board Certification.
