Issaquah Sammamish and beyond…
This magazine and web site is about home. For some the Issaquah and Sammamish area is already home and for others it soon will be. Home is that special place where you choose to live, where you put down your tap-root and get involved with the community.
The feeling of Home is different from that which describes your house. For some of us live in palatial houses, while others are in more modest “spec” houses, condos or apartments, yet we can all agree that this community is our Home.
Twenty-five years ago when my wife Mardi and I first moved to Issaquah, it was a small town of around 7,500 residents, and Sammamish was simply “The Plateau” and was sparsely populated and years away from becoming a separate city. To the east were a few older homes in Preston and Snoqualmie Ridge was tree-covered wilderness. So that it is safe to say that most of us chose to move here and then for various reasons elected to stay here.
During the 25-years as our population grew, so has the commercial options available. Luckily for us, we now have a wide selection of restaurants, shops, medical providers and just about everything we need to support our life style. With the high cost of gasoline and the increasing traffic problems once we hit I-90, it only makes sense to find more of the goods and services we need right here at Home.
We have much to be proud of in our communities and this web site and the companion magazine will feature these points of pride. We will be providing you with professionally-written articles and photos covering those very reasons that attracted you to move here and have kept you here, such as:
Home – what neighbors are doing with their homes, remodels, updates and projects that may be just exactly what you have been pondering.
Garden - our outdoor spaces are critically important to us and new ideas and designs will be a regular feature.
Health – since this is a vibrant community with wide options for activities; we will provide articles on maintaining your health and vitality.
Travel – we are staying closer to home, so we will feature special places to stay, to dine, to taste wine and to recreate, all within a few hours drive.
Community – this will be a significant section with numerous articles on people, events and activities.
Each edition of the magazine will have an article on kids, pets, a non-profit and choices facing the senior members of the community.
A Two-Way Street
To insure that we continue to craft and deliver articles of interest, we encourage you to let us know about topics you would like to see us explore. This way we can continue to bring you fresh and original articles that are all about this place we call Home.
